Expo Pasticciotto Day

Four hours of tastings, open-air pastry workshops and live preparation of thousands of pasticciotti, by the Pastry Masters of Confartigianato Imprese Lecce. For the third edition, the Pasticciotto day is back, an event dedicated to the symbol of the Salento confectionery tradition known and appreciated all over the world.

Until 6 pm, at the same time, all the patisseries participating in the initiative, in Italy but also in France, Spain and Brazil, sell the pasticciotto at an agreed price of 90 cents. Then, from 7 pm, Piazza Mazzini turns into a fair and an open laboratory, where pastry chefs bake pasticciotti, flooding the heart of the city with sweet scent. All proceeds from sales will be donated to the Umberto Veronesi Foundation, which has been committed for years to financing excellent scientific research. In the square an exhibition and tasting itinerary is also set up of the 17 typical confectionery products of Salento included in the ministerial list of typical national products, that is, in addition to pasticciotto, mustaccioli, marzipan, African or apostles fingers, fish or lamb made of almond paste, mouths di dama, cartellate, cuddhura, spumone, cupeta, frattone, almond paste sweets, purcedduzzi, zeppola, pistofatru, bride's sweets, rustic and gallipolino bucconotto. An extra opportunity to discover the typical features that distinguish the Salento tradition.
