What is the use of this money
Halfway between a stoic philosopher and a cunning swindler, Marquis Eduardo Parascandolo, known as the Professor, is one of the main characters in 'A che servono questi quattrini', a comedy by Armando Curcio first staged in 1940 by the De Filippo company to great public acclaim. La Pirandelliana brought it to Lecce on the stage of the Apollo theatre for the municipal theatre season. On stage, directed by Andrea Renzi, are Nello Mascia, Valerio Santoro, Luciano Saltarelli, Loredana Giordano, Fabrizio La Marca, and Ivano Schiavi, who bring to life a story always on the edge of paradox triggered by the Marquis' wild speculations according to which money is a disease afflicting humanity and men should not work but dedicate themselves to contemplation and rest. The paradox is 'inflated' when the Marquis, in order to prove his theories, involves poor Vincenzino in a comical and grotesque scheme.
