High Roads/The Trojan Women, war and males

"The Trojan Women" begins when "Iliad" ends, with a group of grieving women amidst the rubble of their destroyed city, as they meet a fate of slavery or death at the hands of the Greek enemy. Marcela Serli, author, director and actress of 'The Trojan Women, War and Men', draws interesting insights into patriarchy of yesterday and today from the Euripides' text. Where the Greek playwright denounces the folly of all wars, Marcela Serli's rewriting focuses on the atrocious female condition in History. The protagonists of this tragedy, like women of all times, do not experience the condition of oppression for the first time when they become prey to war, because they are already condemned to it by the men of their own families from an early age. Around the pole, which symbolises the phallocentrism of Western culture, revolves the cast of the show staged on the boards of the Ctk, made up solely of biological and transgender women, such as the popular Eva Robin's.
