National Sports Day

“Those who commit themselves to sport and spread it, help the country”, said Sergio Mattarella on the occasion of his visit to the CONI headquarters at the Stadio dei Marmi. Through the National Sports Day, established by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, CONI intends to strengthen the idea of how fundamental sport is for the restart of the country, echoing the message of the President of the Republic.

The National Sports Day 2022 takes place simultaneously throughout the national territory in collaboration with sports organizations, affiliated amateur sports associations and local authorities. The Municipality of Lecce makes piazza Sant’Oronzo available to set up and equip the various playing fields. Everyone (young and old, even non-members) have the opportunity to try their hand at the various disciplines for free, appreciating the pleasure and fun of playing sports together. From the early afternoon the square transforms into a sort of sports village. A great party dedicated to those who love and practice sport, with many disciplines involved in order to enhance their function as a fundamental factor of growth and enrichment of the individual, of improving the quality of life, empowerment and strengthening of civil society.

Do not miss the music with the "Provisional Popular-pizzica, voices and sounds from Salento" by Giacomo Casciaro, Angelo Surdo, Carlo Canaglia and the dancers of the Notte della Taranta. Special guest Alessandro Quarta and his violin.

The provincial delegate of Coni Luigi Renis delivers the sporting honors to the local associations.
