International Beach Soccer City of Lecce

San Cataldo beach becomes a football pitch. It is in fact the Lecce marina, in the arena on the Vespucci seafront, that hosts the International Beach Soccer Tour, the beach football that sees a selection of players from Italy, Brazil, Argentina and France compete on the Adriatic shore. Organised every year by Maurizio Iorio, a prolific goleador with the shirts of Roma, Inter, Torino, and Verona, before becoming an appreciated interpreter and promoter of this sport, the tournament takes place according to a formula that foresees on Friday at 4.30 p.m. the semifinal between France and Brazil, and at 5.30 p.m. that between Argentina and Italy.

Among the Italians in the field are Angelo Di Livio, Max Tonetto, Antonio Chimenti, David Di Michele, and Gennaro Del Vecchio.

The Lecce leg of the International Beach Soccer Tour was promoted by the Municipality of Lecce with the support of Pugliapromozione. The tournament will be broadcast on Sky Sport.
