Tempora Contempora/ Evolutions in the urban body

Some bodies, in their daily movement in space, transform themselves. They touch their own limits, they play with them and move them, constantly discovering new capacities: they evolve, managing to handle fire without burning, to play lightly in the air, to challenge gravity and sometimes win. The initiative "Evolutions in the urban body", an appointment in the rich programme of the Tempora/Contempora review, which revolves around the language of the body in the performing arts, promoted by the Accademia Mediterranea dell'Attore and the Lecce biblio-museum pole, takes its impetus from this reflection. A colourful and playful caravan moves pedalling from Piazzale Cuneo to the Convitto Palmieri, passing through the Santa Rosa district and Balsamo Park. Stilt-walkers, jugglers, acrobats, students and pupils of circus schools and other circus performers cycle, whether on one, two or more wheels, along the route from the outskirts of Lecce to the heart of the city, in the sign of an evolution that sees everyone in synergy between amazement and wonder.

We meet again in Piazzale Cuneo with the aerial acrobatics and hula hoop show "Il provino" by and with La signorina G (Giorgia Basilico). We continue towards Piazzale Cuneo where Monè Monè (Simone Tuosto) performs in 'Retro show', including balancing on a slack wire and verticalism on chairs. The caravan then heads towards piazza Santa Rosa where Manucircus (Emanuele Lacerenza) is waiting for them with his ball balancing and juggling show with fire tools, while in piazzetta Balsamo there is "Il circo più piccolo del mondo" by and with Kukulà (Giuseppe Semeraro), a juggling and unicycle clown. The cycle-tour ends at the Convitto Palmieri with a collective performance by artists for 'The evolutions of the urban body'.

Taking part in the cycle-ride are CirKnos (Lecce), Trampuglia&Trampuglia Jr (Dario and Rocco Cadei, waders), i Traballanti (trampoliers from the CirKnos Circus School), Chiara De Pascalis (aerial acrobatics), Mr Thomas (Tommaso D'Aquino, fire-breathing), Cirknossianə (allievə from the CirKnos Circus School).
