Tempora Contempora#3/ Il Butoh

Butoh, which originated in the early 1960s, is a unique and distinctive style of Japanese contemporary dance: with a strong philosophical and psychosomatic impact, it sees the dancer covered in white paint move between syncopated tremors and slowness. Today, the butoh philosophy runs deep in contemporary Japanese dance, there are many festivals around the world, it is remixed and reborn as a current, living dance. The writer and dance critic, Takao Norikoshi, who is also the director of Japan Dance Plug and a consultant for contemporary dance at various international festivals, is the protagonist of a talk in which videos on Butoh itself will also be shown, as part of the third edition of 'Tempora Contempora', the international focus on body language in the performing arts conceived and organised by Accademia Mediterranea dell'Attore, Polo Bibliomuseale di Lecce, Museo Sigismondo Castromediano, in partnership with Regione Puglia, Ministero della Cultura, Fondazione Nuovi Mecenati, Institut Française di Roma, Eu Japan Fest and Lecceinscena, under the artistic direction of Franco Ungaro.
