Sant'Oronzo 2023/ Flag-wavers of Carovigno

Arriving directly from the city of the "'nzegna," Carovigno, are the flag-wavers who, on the occasion of the patronal feast in honor of St. Oronzo, Giusto and Fortunato, parade along the streets of the historic center. The "'nzegna" is the centuries-old tradition of the town of Brindisi that is renewed every year at Easter time; it is, more properly, the characteristic multicolored flag made to twirl with skill in honor of Our Lady of Belvedere. The centuries-old tradition has led to the emergence in Carovigno of several schools and groups of flag-wavers who enliven the streets in which they are hosted by trying their hand at extraordinary choreography. The colorful procession parades accompanied by blows, rolls of drums and blares of trumpets that mark the tempo of the movements and throws and that lead the parade cadencing the various phases of the show.
