Natale all’Abbazia di Cerrate/ Hic iacet in presepio

Faith, tradition, art and music come alive again in the spaces of the Abbey of Santa Maria di Cerrate during the festive season. On Epiphany, which in the collective imagination closes the cycle of "rest" from the daily routine brought by Christmas, the Lecce delegation of the Fondo Ambiente Italiano proposes the concert "Hic iacet in praesepio". Interpreted by the vocal group Viri Cantores de Finibus Terrae of the Salicus association, the “meditation” taken from the repertoire of Gregorian chants is one of the most traditional and classical tributes to the Catholic Christmas, directed by maestro Giuseppe Lattante, in homage to the memory of the eighth centenary of the first ever representation of the nativity scene, created in 1233 in Greccio by St Francis of Assisi.
