Musica, cartapesta e arte/ Coro Valle della Cupa

As the temperatures plummet and the Christmas air takes over, the city's venues also dress up for the holidays. An exhibition on papier-mâché from Lecce and musical accompaniment embellish the “gentle” rococo of the Chiesa della Nova, which has been curated for years by the Lecce section of Italia Nostra. Inside the building, you can admire characters from the Salento nativity scene, along with small groups of statues, thanks to the skill of artists who still today, modelling the tradition that comes from the past, pay homage to and magnify the great art of papier-mâché. Musicians from the Salento then enrich the peculiar architecture with the “Musica, arte e cartapesta” event: the evening before the Epiphany is enlivened by the “Valle della Cupa” liturgical choir, born a few years ago in Lequile, and directed since then by Maestro Biagio Putignano.

You can visit the church from 10 a.m. to midday and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
