Hands and listening/Maria Pia Romano, Toni Tarantino

The "Meetings with the Piano Between Words and Music" of the 22nd edition of "Hands and Listening" continue in the spaces of the Fondo Verri. As has become tradition, the meetings combine words and sounds, hosting writers, poets and musicians. In the second event, Maria Pia Romano presents her latest book "The Seasons of Travel," published by Besa. Elisa leaves her job as a journalist and settles on the Greek island of Lefkada, reclaiming her own time. No longer having to submit to the rhythms imposed by routine, she can immerse herself in the crystal clear sea day after day, until she regains confidence in herself, retracing her existential itinerary between memories and feelings experienced. She dialogues with the author Gabriele De Blasi. This will be followed at about 8 p.m. by the concert "Toni Tarantino's Eclectic Piano."

"In this project," the musician explains, "I combine academic musical experience with live experience, lived on stages around the world. The show is a sonic journey, in which original compositions alternate with quotations of famous songs. Classical is the direction that the writing follows, as well as the attention paid to the choice of harmonies; jazz is the stylistic and creative vision of improvisation."
