Lecce Outdoor Sports Experiences

Lecce Outdoor Sports Experiences

Hiking, bike tours, swimming, diving, trekking, surfing and windsurfing, courses and mini-courses. These are the activities offered by "Lecce outdoor sport experiences," an articulated nature and sports program created thanks to a group of sports associations within the project "Connect Aics: the strength of the network," which runs until Dec. 31, between Lecce and its marinas, to immerse oneself in the unspoiled nature of the Mediterranean maquis and the Adriatic Sea.

SAN CATALDO

There are two types of excursions planned on the mainland, in San Cataldo: the guided one by mountain bike along a dirt path, through the "Cesine" nature reserve, to the fortified town of Acaya (info: 375/6042092), and a trek in the nature reserve, following the path of Hadrian (info: 338/7799477).

The sea, of course, is also the protagonist of the scheduled activities. Meanwhile, there are mini-courses in "Windsurfing," "Sup" and "Wingfoil" (info: 375/6042092), with theoretical introductions and practical first steps. And then diving, both freediving, for the more experienced (info: 360/262989), and scuba diving (only for patent holders, info: 330/941024), as well as snorkeling, also for the less experienced (info: 330/941024).

At Hadrian's Wharf in San Cataldo there is preparation for "Sup & yoga experience" on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (info: 375/6042092), as well as group "Sailing" classes (info: 368/3640164). Four appointments, finally, with "Yoga and Surfing," to reap psycho-physical benefits of the two disciplines in combination: on May 27, June 10, July 15 and August 19 (info: 329/4565737).

TORRE CHIANCA

At Torre Chianca you can swim in open water in the company of instructors, during courses useful for embracing the benefits that iodine and salt water give to the body, and rediscovering the feeling of well-being in man's atavistic relationship with water.

Info: 347/1961484.

FRIGOLE

Scheduled, in Frigole, are bicycle excursions between "Borghi, mare e sapori," along the coast and the coastal basin of Acquatina (info: 329/5872571), and "Dal borgo al bosco della Cervalora," between Borgo Piave and the small forest, witness to the vast forest that once surrounded Lecce (info: 347/0494855). You can also walk, then, accompanied by environmental guides, along itineraries that touch the Lizza forest, the Macchia del Pagliarone, nature reserves and the Acquatina reservoir (info: 338/7799477).

Ready then to dive into the waters of the Adriatic Sea, in dinghies to reach sites for snorkeling (info: 330/941024), scuba diving (only for patent holders, info: 330/941024), as well as experiences with surfing (info: 329/4565737) and kitesurfing (info: 328/4260226) thanks to "compact" courses, to take the first steps on the boards after a brief theoretical introduction and practice in the water.

LECCE/PORTA SAN BIAGIO

It's back to the city where, among the many planned initiatives, there is the bike tour that connects the hinterland to the coast. It starts from Porta San Biagio, in Lecce, and pedals to the Cesine Nature Reserve, a protected area and the last strip of coastal marshes that once characterized the Salento coast. You then arrive in the fortified town of Acaya, with its castle, city walls and the chapel of San Paolo.
