Conversations on the future/ Italy before Rome

Conversations on the future/ Italy before Rome

On the occasion of the event Conversazioni sul futuro (Conversations on the future), organised by the association Diffondiamo idee di valore with the coordination of Gabriella Morelli, the Rudiae Archaeological Park hosts the presentation of the book 'L'Italia prima di Roma. Sulle tracce degli antichi popoli italici' (Rizzoli) by Paolo Giulierini, director of the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, with Francesco D'Andria, archaeologist and professor emeritus of the University of Salento, and journalist Ilaria Marinaci.

Italy is the heir par excellence of Roman civilisation, but as we travel through Italy from north to south, the toponymy, monuments, archaeological finds, ethnographic traditions, and even eating and culinary habits tell the story of ancient peoples who, from the Iron Age onwards, have frequented, confronted, and clashed. Giulierini presents the Italics, examines their relationship with the territory, settlement patterns, religion, language and writing, without neglecting the fundamental encounter with the Romans and what followed.

During the festival, it is possible to visit with a guide the excavations that brought to light the necropolis, underground tombs dug into the rock, parts of Messapian fortifications, roads, buildings and the Amphitheatre built during the reign of Emperor Trajan.

Conversations on the Future recounts the contemporary world, through its social, cultural and geopolitical folds, and closes its tenth edition with over 70 appointments and more than 150 speakers discussing a variety of topics: the environment, art, activism, cinema, design, photography, rights, economics, music, science, sociology, history and more.

Free admission.
