Classiche forme/ The music of Sergei Rachmaninov

Classiche Forme, an international and widespread festival of chamber music in the art and nature of the Salento, is not only the arrival in Lecce of great talents from the international concert scene, but also an artistic coterie, where music, musicians and their surroundings can be discussed. For example, of Sergei Vasil'evič Rachmaninov on the 150th anniversary of his birth, in relation to his music in cinema and television serials.  The conversation taking place in the spaces of the Bernardini Library is curated by Luca Bandirali and Alma Mileto, researchers at the University of Salento and Sapienza University of Rome respectively. Rachmaninov (1873-1943), considered one of the greatest pianists who ever lived, rose to worldwide fame only after his death. Precisely in 1996 thanks to the film 'Shine', a film about the life of virtuoso pianist David Helfgott, who was obsessed by the hallucinating difficulty of the Russian composer's third concerto, Rach 3. The festival, organised by the 'Opera Prima' association, is also realised thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Department of Tourism, Economy of Culture and Territorial Development of the Region of Apulia.
