Christmas in Lecce/ Ave Eva devotion to Mary

Voice, beating guitar, saz, shruti box, daff. Flute, bansuri, bass flute, Celtic harp, setar, cymbals. Oud, shruti box, Corsican zither, Persian tar. These are the ancient instruments from all latitudes that the musicians of La Cantiga de la Serena, Fabrizio Piepoli, Giorgia Santoro and Adolfo La volpe respectively, will be harnessing in the concert 'Ave Eva la devozione a Maria'. The event, in the spaces of the Church of the Nova, is part of the review organised by the Music Administration that filled the naves of Lecce's churches with music. The ensemble has been dedicated for years to the research and recovery of ancient and traditional music in the Mediterranean basin, and for the occasion proposes a series of devotional songs from the liturgical and paraliturgical spheres of popular tradition and authorship. On the setlist: a Maronite Ave Maria, the Cantigas de Santa Maria and songs from the Libre Vermell de Monsterrat. Then, a handful of Sephardic and Galician-Portuguese cantighe: women's voices narrating their daily lives, voices of mothers and daughters.
