Saints Oronzo, Giusto and Fortunato/ The feast day

Wherever he was in the world, Tito Schipa never let the dates of his concerts coincide with those of the patron saint's festival. It is said that anxiety gripped him even in the days before and that the Lecce tenor did everything he could to get back to Lecce in time to cross the square decorated, at the time, only with simple illuminations. The decades that have passed have not affected the solemnity of the occasion and the sparkle of the festivity guaranteed, the latter, by the illuminations decorating the square and the fireworks display on the last day. In the midst of the participatory procession with the three saints parading on the shoulders of the tuxedoed bearers along the main streets, popular, pop and band music scattered around the squares and small squares, vernacular comedies, the great fair that smells of scapece and cupeta, and the funfair at the gates of the city.
