
Festival del Cinema Europeo

The 24th edition of the European Film Festival lands in the halls of the Cinema Massimo. Great national and international films, in previews, will compete for prizes in the various sections organised by Art Promotion and directed by Alberto La Monica. Starting with the competition for the Ulivo d'oro Premio Cristina Soldano, contested by 10 films presented by their respective actors and directors: "Copenhagen does not exist" by Martin Skovbjerg, "Dead girls dancing" by Anna Roller, "I don't love you anymore" by Zdeněk Jiráský, "Légua" by Filipa Reis and João Miller Guerra, "Medium" by Christina Ioa- keimidi, "Midwives" by Léa Fehner, "Remember to blink" by Austėja Urbaitė, "Solitude" by Ninna Pálmadóttir, "Vasil" by Avelina Prat and "Woman on the roof" by Anna Jadowska. An important place is also occupied by the Italian section for the Mario Verdone award, which features, among other films, Pilar Fogliati and her "Romantiche", as well as the documentaries of the "Cinema & Reality" section. Also, on the programme are the festival's Special Events, such as the docufilm “Gianni Minà. Una vita da giornalista” (Gianni Minà. A journalist's life), by director and wife of the late journalist, Loredana Macchietti Minà.
The festival opens on the 11th with director Michael Winterbottom and his "Shoshana", and with Micaela Ramazzotti, with a review of her films, as well as her debut as director "Felicità".
The festival includes, as every year, the territorial section Puglia Show, a competition reserved for emerging Apulian directors, which this year features: “Anxiety” (2023) by Laura Rochira; “Eight steps. Otto passi" (2022), by Anna Seviroli; "Il volto di Capgras" (2023), by Nicole Turi; "Jazzo Inferno" (2023), by Gerry Ciccimarra; "L'eroe degli antieroi" (2023), by Andrea di Salvatore; "La mia escort" (2023), by Alessandro Porzio; "La piccola estate" (2023), by Sara Scalera; "La striara e lu striu" (2023) by Carlo Conversano; "Nel cognome che ho scelto" (2023) by Lorenzo Sepalone; "Nostos" (2022), by Mauro Zingarelli; "Nu ffischia" (2023), by Pierdomenico Minafra and Antonio Carella; "Pier Paolo morto e risorto" (2022) by Rocco Anelli; "Quando si ritira il mare" (2022) by Francesco Lorusso; "Tart" (2022), by Federico Emilio Cornacchia; "Terre joniche. Storie dell'XI secolo” (2022) by Michele Alberto Chironi; “Ughetto Forno. Il partigiano bambino" (2022) by Fabio Vasco.
Also, out of competition are: "Addhumare" (2023) by Hermes Mangialardo, "Era ora!" (2023) by Valerio Manisi, "L'estate di Virna" (2023) by Alessandro Zizzo, "Natìa" (2023) by Roberta Spagnuolo, "Super Jesus" (2022) by Vito Palumbo, and "Victoria" (2022), by Karolina Porcari.
