Augustinian books/ The factory in prison and work on the outside

Augustinian books/ The factory in prison and work on the outside

"Punishments may not consist of treatment contrary to the sense of humanity and must aim at the re-education of the convicted person." This is Article 27 (third Paragraph) of the Constitution, and one of the paths leading to re-education and reintegration into society is certainly work. This is also demonstrated by the case of the Bologna prison, recounted by Valerio Pascali and Alvise Sbraccia in the book "The factory in prison and work outside: a case study on doing business in Dozza," presented for the Agostiniani libri review. For the past 10 years, more than 30 inmates, through training and regular paid work, have had the opportunity to integrate into the community once they have served their time. Research has shown that former inmates who have joined the project have very low levels of reoffending and good vocational skills. Maria Pia Scarciglia of the Antigone Association will dialogue with the authors.
