To Demeter. Homeric Hymn

To Demeter. Homeric Hymn

It dates back to the 7th-6th century BC, yet the myth still speaks to us and belongs to us more than we can imagine. Ura Teatro entrusts to the voice of actor Riccardo Lanzarone and the music of multi-instrumentalist and composer Giorgia Santoro the concert performance "A Demetra. Homeric Hymn", taken from the edition edited and translated by Alessio Torino. Demeter, goddess of agriculture, is forced to witness the abduction of her daughter Persephone by Hades, the god of the dead. Inconsolable, she leaves Olympus and lives on Earth in the guise of an old woman. Demeter decides that from then on Earth would bear no more fruit. Compelled by the pleas of mortals and the gods themselves, Zeus asks Hades to free Persephone. As soon as he sees his daughter again, Demeter makes the earth fertile again and mankind resumes enjoying the gifts of nature. Alessio Torino's translation focuses on one of the most topical issues, the worrying climate change, making us reflect on the relationship between man and nature.
