What are the educational responsibilities of parents and what are the responsibilities of institutions towards children? Whose fault is it if our children turn into victims or executioners? These are the questions at the centre of the show 'Il nodo' (The Knot), which sees actress and TV presenter Ambra Angiolini and actress Arianna Scommegna on stage at the Apollo Theatre. Serena Sinigallia's show is part of the Lecce Municipality's theatre season bill and is set in a sixth-grade class at a public school in Lake Forest, a town near Chicago. During the reception hour, the mother of one of her pupils unexpectedly shows up at the teacher's interview. She wants to talk to her because her son was suspended a few days earlier and came home bruised. The mother wants to find out at all costs if he has been bullied or if he himself has been a bully. Maybe the teacher treated him too harshly? Only a tough confrontation between the two women can make sense of the pain, the bewilderment and their mutual, suffocating guilt.
