The great silence

Because "Many small silences give life to a great silence". The waitress Bettina says it and repeats it on stage, a character who is a bit observer and a bit narrator of "The Great Silence", a work by Maurizio De Giovanni on stage at the Apollo Theater. On the stage Massimiliano Gallo, Stefania Rocca and Antonella Morea tell the story of the Primic family that unfolds in the study-refuge of their father, Valerio, a well-known writer, unhappy and willing to keep away from the contamination of the world. Wife Rose only makes ends meet.
His son Maximilian suffers from a profound inferiority complex towards his father, to the point of having studied and nurtured interests that are repugnant only to seek his approval. Daughter Adele is cynical, shameless and has relationships with older men because they remind her of her admired dad. Bettina, the maid, is the simple and sincere look at a jumble of situations and contrasts generated by having been silent for too long.
