The cities... visible/ Roberto Ciufoli

For the format "Metti un libro a teatro," conceived by Ergo Sum to bring the public closer to the great classics of literature, the Bernardini Library welcomes actor and director Roberto Ciufoli with "Le città... visibili," a show based on the famous novel "Invisible Cities" by Italo Calvino. Adaptation and direction are by Alessandra Pizzi, music and effects by David Barittoni. Paraphrasing Calvino's work, in the 13th century Marco Polo reaches the Far East and finds himself in the presence of Kublai Khan. The emperor of the kingdom of the Tartars asks the Venetian explorer to tell him about his adventures and in particular to describe minutely the cities he has seen in his travels. Each city can be "visited" through its own music and the narrative of its poets. With Calvino's writings and quotations from other great authors, one "travels" to the Spain of García Lorca, the Argentina of Borges, the Chile of Neruda, and the Sicily of Sciascia, where architecture, landscapes, and views are recounted by music and words.
