Strade Maestre/ The ferocity

Based on the novel of the same name by Nicola Lagioia, winner of the Strega Prize in 2015, "La ferocia" brings to the stage the saga of the Salvemini family, a metaphor for the triumph and ruin of the West. On the Ctk stage, for the Strade Maestre review, the Vico Quarto Mazzini company restores a contemporary tragedy, at once particular and universal. The death of Clara Salvemini, the daughter of an influential builder who arrived in Bari in her early thirties in the 1970s, rips the veil open on the anaffectivity and power relations within the upper middle class. Michele, Clara's half-brother, returns to discover the truth about the death of his sister, found naked in a pool of blood on the Bari-Taranto provincial road. His story, in which the family's history is intertwined with that of the city, is exemplary of the fierce vanity of the power-money binomial, of all the contradictions and forms of violence in the South and in Italy as a whole. But also of the fallout of fathers' faults on the fragility of their children and the inability to suppress the natural instinct of prevarication.
