Strade Maestre/ Conference of the absent

The ingenious Berlin collective Rimini Protokoll animates the double appointment of "Conferenza degli assenti" of Strade Maestre, a theatrical review by Teatro Koreja. Or rather, it is the audience present that actively participates in the performance, making it unique, unrepeatable and an added value each time. All the speakers invited to the international conference are suddenly unable to travel, due to travel restrictions imposed by the pandemic or the ecological conscience of the individual participants, who prefer to avoid further CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. Yet they will all be present, physically replaced thanks to the direct collaboration of the spectators in the auditorium. The volunteers, who decide to help the organisers carry out the conference, receive their script only when the stage is open and become the bearers of ideas, playfully appropriating both the identity of the guests and their thoughts. Thus absence turns into advantage, because it opens up new visions and perspectives.
