So is the Pizzica (If you like)

Serena D'Amato and Guido Scopece's show Così è la Pizzica (Così è la Pizzica (Se vi pare)) is the brainchild of the two artists. She, a dancer and teacher of pizzica and popular dances, boasts 17 years of collaboration with the Tamburellisti di Torrepaduli. He, a psychologist and psychotherapist, is also an actor and theatre director. Together they decided to communicate their idea of the pizzica through the words of Luigi Pirandello, a message of freedom of thought and interpretation that fits perfectly with the multifaceted nature of this ancient dance. They invite the audience to reflect, in an ironic and amusing way, on the Salento folk dance in this particular historical moment, in which many feel entitled to have their say on movements, steps and meanings. In recent years, the pizzica has been at the centre of a constant debate on the search for its origins and the definition of the 'real' pizzica. The direction is by Guido Scopece, the choreography by Serena D'Amato.
