Reading Well

Reading Well

The new project of the Accademia Mediterranea dell'Attore (Mediterranean Academy of Actors), in collaboration with the Biblio-museum Pole, is aimed at the genius of Carmelo Bene and reading aloud. "Leggere Bene" combines literature, theatre, voice, text and song, with the guidance of pedagogues Lidia Letizia and Claudia Fabris and the visual facilitation of relational designer Fedele Congedo. The Carmelo Bene archive at the Convitto Palmieri hosts a workshop on reading Bene's texts aloud, exploring the meanings and combinatory possibilities of the key words of Pinocchio, a much-loved work by the master from Campi Salentina, who adapted it for theatre, television and radio. Innovative paths are traced, especially for the new generations, creating new stories through reading aloud and through generative instant-writing games, which are mixed with the adventures of Pinocchio. The essential elements of this workshop are writing, voice and imagination. The workshop is aimed at the entire community, i.e. students, parents, grandparents, cultural workers, teachers, actors, pedagogues and readers.
