PUT A BOOK IN THE THEATER/ Ithaca Forever.

For the review "Put a Book in the Theater," set up by Ergo Sum in collaboration with the Biblio-Museum Pole of the Apulia Region, the mise en espace of Luigi Malerba's book "Ithaca Forever" is staged. The protagonist of the narration, in the hall of the Cloister of 500 of the Bernardini Library, is actor Mauro Racanati, a well-known face of cinema and TV drama. The voice-overs of Ulysses' "women" (the Sirens, Calypso, Circe, Nausica) belong to Barbara Bovoli. Dramaturgical consulting is by artistic director Alessandra Pizzi. After ten years of siege at Troy and another ten as a castaway at sea, Ulysses lands in Ithaca. In the meantime, many things have changed; the island is no longer the one he left behind. The Homeric hero realizes that only by opening his heart to the sincerity of feelings can he win back Penelope's trust. All that remains for him is to come to terms with his own capacity to love and to welcome back into his existence a woman who, having abandoned the sterile archetype of patience, claims her right to be loved. Another long journey awaits Ulysses, probably the most difficult and important one, that of self-discovery.
