Misericordia

It is a contemporary fairytale about the fragility of women, their loneliness but also the love they can give unconditionally. "Misericordia", written and directed by Emma Dante with Italia Carroccio, Manuela Lo Sicco, Leonarda Saffi, Simone Zambe, arrives on the stage of Koreja. The story is about three prostitutes and a disabled boy, Arturo, who live in a miserable one-room flat. Arturo's mother, Lucia, always kept a small radio on. "La casa era china 'i musica e Lucia abballava p'i masculi!" (The house was full of music and Lucia played for the boys!), especially for a carpenter, they called him "Geppetto". He raised his hands and from the woodwork Arturo was born, but Lucia died after giving birth to him. He then became the son of three mothers, Anna, Nuzza and Bettina, who brought him up as their own and turned him from a piece of wood into a child. The event is part of the programme Strade Maestre.
