Liberation Day/ Gramsci Antonio called Nino

"I was a fighter who was unlucky in the immediate struggle, and fighters cannot and should not be mourned, when they fought not because they were forced to, but because they themselves consciously wanted to". Hunchbacked, less than five feet tall, undernourished, yet one of the most valuable men of the 20th century. The Liberation Day, organised by Fillea CGIL Lecce in collaboration with the Lecce circle of Anpi, Udu Lecce and Oikos Sostenibile, is dedicated to Antonio Gramsci. The 25 April celebrations begin at 6 p.m. with a 'resistant aperitif' and a moment of reflection on the meaning of the holiday and its urgency. At 8 p.m., Fabrizio Saccomanno will be on stage with 'Gramsci Antonio detto Nino', a play written by the Salento actor himself with playwright Francesco Niccolini. The body of letters from Antonio Gramsci's prison to his family members is a masterpiece of humanity, ethics, spiritual honesty and suffering. The tender letters to his young sons are the starting point. To Delio and Giuliano, father Gramsci writes without ever mentioning prison and his physical and mental condition. The festive evening continues in music with a DJ set. Admission free.
