‘L mal dè fiori

‘L mal dè fiori

The garden of the Convitto Palmieri is filled with sounds, images and words for the theatre-poetry performance that brings to the stage Carmelo Bene's poem 'L mal dè fiori', the final event of two years of course, training and actor training at the Accademia mediterranea dell'attore. Marcello Sambati, Silvia Gussoni, Lorenzo Paladini and Miriana Moschetti, directed by Giancarlo Cauteruccio, bring to life on stage the atmospheres of the poems by the versatile artist from Salento, one of the greatest of the 20th century, who in his work turned Charles Baudelaire's 'The Flowers of Evil' upside down. Echoed in his verses are Eliot, Dante, the Provençals, François Villon, Marcus Aurelius, the love letters of Abelard and Heloise, Joyce, Laforgue, Nietzsche, but also saints and mystics like Teresa of Avila. The text encompasses Bene's entire cultural universe and his forays into art history, linguistics, philosophy, painting and theatre.
