Katër i Radës-Migrant Memories

They were waiting to see the Italian coast looming on the horizon. They waited for the military ships that circled their old and battered Albanian patrol boat, the Kater, to save them by finally making them land on that dream of freedom. But on March 28, 1997 things did not go like this: the corvette of the Italian Navy rammed the Albanian boat while trying to prevent its landing.

To commemorate those 81 dead and 27 missing, in the historic location of the Astràgali Theater, “Katër i Radës-Memorie migranti”, a project conceived by Ermelinda Bircaj, is staged. The appointment is part of the Theaters in the South review, supported by the Ministry of Culture.
