Il tempio delle fole/ Oedipus Rex

Sophocles' moral thought, complex and articulated in terms of its civil context and its ethical, religious and political implications, is manifested in its fullness in Oedipus Rex, the tragedy in which the hero even seems to have a margin of free will, albeit subject to the divine will and the confrontation with the inevitable equilibrium of the cosmic order imposed by fate and the principle of 'never exceeding', of never sinning in 'hybris', the arrogance, the rebellion against the established order. The Oedipus Rex staged by Poieofolà-Theatrical Constructions in the cloister of the former convent of the Theatines on the occasion of the sixth edition of the review of ancient drama and literature theatre "Il tempio delle fole", under the artistic direction of Alberto Greco, maintains classicism, with the inclusion of Greek metrical verses in the recitation, respecting the elegiac couplets and iambic trimeters, with texts adapted by Roberto Treglia, who also signs the direction, as well as playing the role of the protagonist. But the reading key is unconventional, where monstrous mythological creatures alternate with dark colours, gloomy atmospheres, against a backdrop of songs of revenge and dances, amid shadows, secrets and unforeseen events that will ultimately lead Oedipus to bow to Fate. A timeless metaphor to recount the most sensitive and inscrutable aspects of the human soul, naive, presumptuous, always striving to go beyond the limit.
