Iancu/Fabrizio Saccomanno

A strange and deformed fresco of a South that no longer exists today. The story of "Iancu", a performance by Ura Teatro staged in the cloister of the Augustinians, begins in the lower Salento, on a Sunday in August 1976, the day on which a famous bandit, having escaped from prison in Lecce, hides in the countryside of the suburbs. Thus begins a tragicomic manhunt that involves everyone, including children. And it is precisely through the eyes of an eight-year-old child that Fabrizio Saccomanno reconstructs the mosaic of memory. "But this is not just the tale of a day," say authors Fabrizio Saccomanno and Francesco Nicolini, "it is the tale of a childhood and the deceptions and illusions that surround it. And it is above all the tale of an era'.
