Elena Sofia Ricci/ La dolce ala della giovinezza (The Sweet Wing of Youth)

Elena Sofia Ricci and Gabriele Anagni take on a classic by Tennessee Williams, 'La dolce ala della giovinezza', in Masolino D'Amico's translation, directed by Pier Luigi Pizzi, who also takes care of the sets and costumes, with music composed by Stefano Mainetti. In 110 minutes Williams builds with extraordinary skill a female character on the edge of madness, constantly on the edge of the precipice. Film star Alexandra Del Lago is in decline, no longer young, alcoholic and depressed. Fleeing what she believes to be a failure in her last film, she seeks solace in her loneliness in the arms of a young and handsome gigolo. The man is nothing more than a failed actor looking for a revival, destined to come to a bad end once he loses his only asset: his youth. However Williams, as a great playwright, is always able to amaze the audience, ingeniously subverting the destiny of the protagonist.
