UNicA/ Francesca Romana Perrotta

National premiere of Francesca Romana Perrotta's latest album, the fourth after 'Vermiglio', 'Lo specchio' and 'L'ora di mezzo'. In her new album, the singer-songwriter from Salento, transplanted in Romagna, investigates the most ancestral elements of her homeland, from popular beliefs to magic. The tracks contain references to the popular culture of Salento, whose suggestions appear more vivid and richer, having lived far from it for years. She sings of a truly singular encounter with one of the last 'macàre', a sort of 97-year-old witch who speaks 'grico', the ancient language of Salento communities of Hellenic origin. A fundamental theme in Perrotta's musical production is social commitment, strongly declined in the feminine, both through autobiographical references and by telling the stories of other women. She pursues her coherent artistic path, continuing her personal sound research, supported by visionary lyrics. Francesca Romana's warm voice smells of sunshine, at times scratchy and at times childlike. Her musical feeling ranges from rock to songwriting, translating into a creative constancy, recognised by important awards.
