Tutti Solo/ Anna Cinzia Villani

For the new edition of 'Tutti Solo', a musical event curated by Giorgia Santoro, Anna Cinzia Villani tells the story of Salento with her 'Songs of women, earth and salt'. Accompanied by the diatonic accordion, drums and some typical tools of the female world of the past (such as the washing board and the bottle opener), which become real 'domestic percussions', she sings the stories of her people. Above all of women, keepers of secrets and for this reason feared or loved, controlled, but always indispensable. They are wives and workers, mothers and daughters. They are victims of love, of the neighbourhood that judges, of the heavy agricultural work that exhausts, but does not bend. The artist and researcher of the Salento oral tradition sings dirges, stornelli, serenades and refrains about women, who often speak for themselves. But also about men, who watch them, sometimes admiring them, sometimes threatening them.
