Tutti Solo/ Alfio Antico

Singer-songwriter, musician, theatre actor, one of the greatest interpreters of the tammorra and the frame drum. He is Alfio Antico, guest of Giorgia Santoro's Tutti solo review. Heir to the Sicilian folk music tradition, he is the tambourine player who has most revolutionised the technique of the tammorra, with new timbres and vibrant sounds. In Lecce he brings the project "Semu suli semu tutti", a concert for voice and drums that tells his story. Because there is no artist without the man. Born in Lentini, Antico spent his childhood and adolescence as a shepherd of a flock of 600 sheep in the mountains of the Syracuse hinterland. Those places forged his soul in a life not devoid of harshness, making him breathe the fables, stories and myths of peasant and pastoral culture. He owns over two hundred drums, all self-made and beautifully inlaid by hand. To each instrument he has given voice, heart and soul, as if it were an expression of his own existence. "I am the drum" he says, alluding to the mystical symbiosis between the living skin of his hand and the dead, ancient skin attached to a grain sieve that comes back to life, telling stories of love and poetry.
