Stagione Lirica 2023/ La traviata

The 48th Opera Season of the Province of Lecce focuses on the female figure. Theatre is not just entertainment, and the protagonism of women is used to bring onstage a powerful message. It begins with Giuseppe Verdi's immortal masterpiece in three performances, “La traviata”, whose protagonist Violetta Valéry is played by two different sopranos: Veronica Anusca, straight from the Bucharest Opera House, for the performances on the 18th and 21st, and Angela Nisi, already a protagonist in theatres all over Italy, on the 19th. Together with them, Alfonso Scarano directs Giulio Pelligra and Lucian Petrean respectively in the roles of Alfredo and Giorgio Germont, while the staging is created by Alessio Pizzech. To embellish the show, there is the musical carpet of the Orchestra Filarmonica of Lecce, with the Opera in Puglia chorus directed by Maestro Emanuela Aymone, and the choreography of the Balletto del Sud by Fredy Franzutti. The events are supported by the “Fondo nazionale spettacolo dal vivo” of the Ministry of Culture and the Region of Puglia, in collaboration with the Municipality of Lecce, Teatro Pubblico Pugliese, and the Camera di Commercio in Lecce.
