Solo mite/ Matteo Bortone

For the 21st edition of "Tutti Solo", double bassist Matteo Bortone takes the stage at the Fondo Verri. His concert "Solo mite" is a leap into the void (like that of Fyodor Dostoyevsky's "La mite") or perhaps a dive into the bottomless sea of his Otranto, a search both inside and outside himself. His parable as a musician sees Matteo Bortone begin by playing the piano, later move on to the guitar and electric bass, and finally land on the double bass. Likewise, his musical identity rests on the perennial renewal of the creative process and 'Solo mite' is a synthesis of his eclectic and versatile artistic vision. The figure of the Salento double bass player, who grew up professionally in Paris, is absolutely jazz, but without disdaining pop and rock. He has an unsystematic relationship with the instrument, with which he delves into untravelled soundscapes, moving from parts of songs to free improvisations. Electric and acoustic sounds coexist and influence each other, creating a world of dialogues and contrasts.
