Puer natus est nobis/ Concerto per organo

There is still a bit of Christmas air in the aisles of St Anna's church, while the organ pipes vibrate with a repertoire of pastorals collected in the concert “Puer natus est nobis”. The event, part of the “I Concerti di Sant’Anna” cycle, is promoted by the Festinamente association and the Antonio Pignatelli association in collaboration with the J. S. Bach Institute of Musical Culture in Tricase. Sitting at the ancient instrument will be the Maestro Francesco Scarcella, artistic director of the Festival Organistico del Salento, who leads the audience on the notes of Italian pastorals from the early Baroque period to the 19th century. On the programme: the “Messa di Natale” by an anonymous Pistoiese from the 18th century; “Offertorio Pastorale”, “Post Communio Pastorale” and “Pastorale”. This will be followed by the Pastorale from the big concert “Fatto per la Notte di Natale” by Arcangelo Corelli. And again, the “Pifferata napoletana” by Luigi Vecchiotti from the Marche region, the “Pastorale siciliana” by Francesco P. Ricci, the “Pastorale” by Niccolò Moretti, and the “Pastorale” by Domenico Puccini, Giacomo's uncle, who also took up music on the organ. The journey ends in Apulia with the Pastorale by Leonardo Leo, and other pastorals composition between the 18th and 19th centuries by anonymous composers from Salento.
