Twenty-nine works dedicated to "Porrajmos", the Shoah of the Roma and Sinti. The exhibition by Irina Hale, staged by the social cooperative Il Nuovo Fantarca, has a declared didactic intent and presents original works by the recently deceased Russian-Irish artist. Hale loved to use fabrics, cardboard, objects and colours of various kinds. His polymateric works outline in broad stages the history of the Roma and Sinti people, from the first exodus to the Roma camps in our cities. In particular, Hale dwells on the years of the Second World War, when the Nazi regime imprisoned thousands of Roma and Sinti in concentration camps, about 550,000 of whom perished. This was the 'Porrajmos', which was followed until the mid-1970s in Northern Europe by the sterilisation practices of Roma and Sinti women. The exhibition is accompanied by various events and initiatives, including film and short film screenings, book presentations and a series of workshops.
