Opera in the cloister/ Tosca

One of the best-loved and most performed operas in the world: Giacomo Puccini's 'Tosca'. Love and power in its most extreme forms are the main themes of the great composer's three-act melodrama, set in Rome in 1800. The opera tells the story of the singer Floria Tosca, lover of the liberal painter Mario Cavaradossi, courted by the papal police minister Scarpia. The story ends in tragedy but, each time it is performed, one almost hopes that it does not. Bringing it to the stage, with all its musical power, this time is the Lecce Opera Chorus Association, which assigns the role of the protagonist to soprano Silvia Rosato Franchini, that of Cavaradossi to tenor Gianni Leccese, while Baron Scarpia has the voice of Luciano Montanaro. Salvatore Cavallo, Giampiero Ruffino and Aldo Orlando play the sacristan, Spoletta and a jailer respectively. The narrator is Costantino Miglietta while at the piano is Valerio De Giorgi and the direction is maestro Vincenza Baglivo. They are joined by the white voices of the choir of the 'Quinto Ennio' institute of Lecce. The direction is by Rosangela Giurgola, conductor Emanuela Di Pietro.
