Oles/ Historire du Soldat

Violin, contrabass, clarinet, bassoon, cornet, trombone and percussion. These are the 'narrative voices' of 'Historire du Soldat', a particular performance of Stravinsky performed by the Oles (Symphony Orchestra of Lecce and Salento) on the stage of the Paisiello Theatre. The story is that of a soldier returning home on leave, who is beguiled by the devil who takes his violin from him in exchange for a book that can make any wish come true. The score, dry and devoid of any virtuosity, is one of the most linear and homogeneous works Stravinsky wrote and is presented as a suite composed of several separate pieces, each with a specific character ranging from march to tango to waltz. The orchestra is conducted by Maestro Giovanni Pellegrini while the narrator is Salvatore Della Villa.
