MareAperto/ Lumenèa & Ambrogio Sparagna

For the last of the four appointments with MareAperto 2023, the 14th edition of the festival dedicated to border music organised by the Manigold cultural association, under the artistic direction of Claudio Prima, the eight young Salento musicians of the Lumenèa ensemble (in griko fuoco nuovo), conducted by organist Ambrogio Sparagna, take the stage at Officine Cantelmo. They play the songs from "Anemo", the first album of the musical project that stems from the need to investigate the blending of languages and traditions shared by the cultures of Mediterranean countries, keeping alive the popular culture of Salento and especially that belonging to the Griko minority. "Anemo" is the wind that carries sounds and voices and resonates around ten songs based on traditional texts, set to music by maestro Sparagna. It is the breath of life that wants to give voice again to a traditional repertoire that is still little known, which tells of work, love and also the hope of living in a dimension that preserves and cherishes ancient and ever-present values.
