Mareaperto/ Christian Di Fiore & Sinfonia Ensemble e La cantiga de la serena

Mareaperto/ Christian Di Fiore & Sinfonia Ensemble e La cantiga de la serena

Music, guided tours, social and environmental commitment. These are the leitmotifs of the thirteenth edition of the Mareaperto festival, dedicated to border music by the Manigold cultural association, under the artistic direction of Claudio Prima. The second of the four events features the museum tour "Stories of friendships from the sea". The Mediterranean reveals its immense cultural and intangible heritage, told through the wrecks recovered by underwater archaeologists. At 8.30 pm, two more of the eight research projects on border music. Christian Di Fiore & Sinfonia Ensemble, in the live show "La zampogna fra tradizione e modernità" (The bagpipe between tradition and modernity), fuse the sounds of popular culture with those of classical music and the rhythm of Mediterranean percussion. Bagpipe player Christian Di Fiore, considered one of the greatest virtuosos of the instrument, is joined by Pasquale Franciosa (oboe), Manuel Petti (accordion), Lorenzo Mastrogiuseppe (double bass) and Alessandro Blasi (percussion). 'Songs and rites of love from the Mediterranean' is the concert of the trio La Cantiga de la Serena. Fabrizio Piepoli (vocals, chitarra battente, saz, daff), Giorgia Santoro (flutes, Celtic harp, setar) and Adolfo La Volpe (oud, classical guitar, tar) have for years been dedicated to the recovery and reworking of ancient and traditional music from the Mediterranean basin.

Part of the proceeds from the event will go to support the Sylva Foundation for the planting of new trees in Salento.
