Madama Butterfly/ Conferenza di apertura

Theatre is not just entertainment. As never before, the main theme of the 48th opera season promoted by the Province of Lecce represents a point of pressing relevance. The central protagonist is in fact the feminine, already addressed in the opening with Giuseppe Verdi's “La Traviata”. The second title is “Madama Butterfly”, a masterpiece from the early 1900s by Giacomo Puccini. Each opera is preceded and accompanied by "Ouverture", a series of meetings aimed at setting up conversations on the operas in the rich programme. The foyer of the theatre will host the journalist and music critic Eraldo Martucci, who examples will retrace through audio and video material the chronology of Puccini's "Japanese tragedy", whose first performance dates back to 1904 up to the latest edition in 2017.
