La vedova allegra

"Don't be offended, but it's not music". This is what the theatre manager and critics said to Franz Lehár, who had written the scores for the opera of the Vedova Allegra by the French playwright and librettist Henri Meilhac. The story turned out to be quite the opposite and Lehár got a well-deserved redemption from his detractors. The Apollo Theatre hosts the live orchestra of the Compagnia Italiana di Operette for the new date of the Camerata Musicale Salentina Concert Season. On stage a masterpiece in which the protagonists are involved in a whirling and hilarious exchange of partners, promises, suspicions and revelations. And the famous phrase was engraved on the tribute medals that the management of the Theatre An der Wien offered on the occasion of the three hundredth replica.
