JAF/I Siciliani

The sixth edition of JAF, the Jazz Around Festival directed by Maurizio Petrelli, is dedicated to the female artistic universe. JAF promotes the culture of jazz music, both Italian and world-wide, and brings original projects contaminated by different genres to the Teatini in Lecce. This year, the three evenings will feature female headliners from the international scene and young talents to be promoted in a context that is also intended to be an opportunity for in-depth discussion on the issues of equal opportunities in the world of music and culture, both Apulian and Italian. The opening of all evenings of JAF, realised with the artistic collaboration of Alfamusic, Conservatorio Tito Schipa di Lecce and Gianluca Di Furia Production, is entrusted precisely to the young people of the Conservatorio Tito Schipa di Lecce.
It starts at 8 p.m. with 'Le pari opportunità nel contesto musicale e discografico italiano' ('Equal opportunities in the Italian music and recording context'), a meeting with the public and the artists present and experts in the field to discuss the current work situation and opportunities for female artists in the local and Italian music and recording scene. The experts are: Fabrizio Salvatore, record producer and music expert from the production company 'Alfa Music', and Maria Grazia Bascià, lecturer and artistic director of music and art festivals.
At 9 p.m., the musical evening is opened by the students of the conservatory: Giulia Bruno and Valeria Montesardo (vocals), Luigi Monaco and Carlo Rotelli (guitar).
At 9.30 p.m., "I Siciliani", a show that pays homage to the poetry of Sicilian writer Antonio Caldarella, by pianist and composer Cettina Donato and actor and director Ninni Bruschetta, with the voice of Celeste Gugliandolo. The backdrop for the artistic inspiration is the Strait of Messina, a passage crossed many times by the writer Caldarella, originally from Avola and raised between Naples, Messina and the rest of the world. His poetry in the album "I Siciliani" comes back to life in the overwhelming performance by Ninni Bruschetta, balanced between acting and singing, and the evocative original compositions by Cettina Donato.
Admission single seat € 12 per concert; subscription 3 concerts € 25.
