Fulvio Palese Quartet/ South America

Fulvio Palese Quartet/ South America

South America is the part of the American continent that extends southward from the Isthmus of Panama to Cape Horn. It includes 15 countries, much of Latin America, and a myriad of different cultures. South American music also includes a large number of genres: salsa, rumba, bossa nova, flamenco, tango, fado, milonga, Latin rock, merengue, just to name the best known. "Sudamerica" is the title Fulvio Palese Quartet has given to the new project, which marries the now-traditional South American sounds, such as those of Astor Piazzolla or Antonio Carlos Jobim, to the jazz influences of Chick Corea or Javier Girotto, who have reshaped those sounds, taking them around the world. Several tracks are originals by Fulvio Palese and Marcello Zappatore, the quartet's saxophonist and guitarist, respectively. The other musicians in the group are drummer Paolo Colazzo and double bassist Stefano Rielli. The concert, a world premiere, is curated by the Cromatica Association.
