What better place than the Abbey of Santa Maria a Cerrate, built in the late 11th and early 12th centuries, can host a concert of medieval music? In particular, of sacred music, which is the one that has come down to the present day, because it is the only one to be written. The Middle Ages is a time rich in music that had a practical function: accompanying work, a battle, a banquet, a feast or a celebration. Music was improvised or composed to be performed only once; it was not written down to be handed down. For this reason, not many documents remain, with the exception of sacred music. The Ensemble Fabliaux quartet, composed of Serenza Scarinzi (voice), Andrea Cataldo (lute), Eleonora Carbone (harp), and Roberto Chiga (percussion), is dedicated to researching and studying sources to ensure the most accurate and faithful reproduction possible.
